As Vice President Sponsor Finance Portfolio Officer, Stephen leads disciplined portfolio oversight, including credit monitoring, covenant compliance, and performance analytics, to ensure safety and soundness for investor‑led acquisitions across diverse industries.

History

Stephen began his banking career in 2011 as a Loan Administrator & Portfolio Manager at Main Street Bank, later advancing to Assistant Vice President at United Bank. He returned to Main Street Bank in 2018 as a lender, bringing expertise in commercial real estate, construction, C&I, non-profit, and franchise lending. Promoted to Senior Vice President and Commercial Lending Team Leader in 2023, Stephen now serves as Vice President, Sponsor Finance Portfolio Officer, overseeing credit quality and performance for the bank’s growing Sponsor Finance portfolio.

Membership

Stephen is not just a dedicated professional but an active community member as well. He serves on the Board of Directors for Thrive Support & Advocacy and has volunteered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marlborough/Hudson, making a positive impact on the lives of local youth. He’s also an enthusiastic member of the Worcester Young Businessmen’s Association, actively contributing to the growth and development of the local business community. Previously, he was a proud member of Rotary International in Marlborough, where he exemplified the spirit of service.

Beyond his professional and community engagements, Stephen takes on another important role as the head coach of his son’s little league baseball team since 2021, nurturing young talents on and off the field.

Fun Fact

Community banking runs in Stephen’s blood. His grandfather, James Langway, served as the past President at Hudson National/Community National Bank in Hudson, MA. You could say community banking is a tradition in his family, and Stephen carries the legacy forward with passion and dedication.

In his free time, Stephen finds joy in spending precious moments with his wife, and their two sons. They bond over outdoor adventures, including camping, snowboarding, and mountain biking, creating cherished memories that last a lifetime.
