Video Connect FAQs
What is Main Street Video Connect?
Video Connect is Main Street Bank’s video banking service that allows customers to securely meet face-to-face with a banker using a smartphone, tablet, or computer from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.
Why choose Video Connect instead of a traditional branch visit?
Video Connect combines the convenience of digital banking with the personal service of working directly with an experienced Main Street Bank banker. You can meet face-to-face, securely share documents, sign paperwork, receive technology assistance, and complete many everyday banking tasks without leaving home or the office. This makes Video Connect an especially convenient service for businesses and individuals who are on the go.
How is Video Connect different from calling the bank?
Unlike a phone call, Video Connect allows you to see and speak directly with a banker, share documents, capture signatures electronically, verify identification, and even share your screen for additional support.
What Can I Use Main Street Video Connect For?
Bank customers and even those without Main Street Bank accounts can use Video Connect to:
- Open accounts
- Apply for loans
- Transfer money
- Update contact information
- Review and sign documents
- Verify identification
- Get help with banking questions
- Receive assistance with online banking and digital services
Can I open a new account through Video Connect?
Yes. Video Connect allows current Main Street Bank customers and brand-new customers to open personal and business deposit accounts remotely while working directly with a banker.
Deposit accounts that can be opened through Video Connect include:
- Checking Accounts
- Savings Accounts
- Certificates of Deposit (CDs)
- Money Market Accounts
What documents do I need to open a new account through Video Connect?
To help make your appointment as smooth as possible, please have the required documents ready before your Video Connect session. A Main Street Bank representative will review your information and may request additional documentation depending on the account type and ownership structure.
For Personal Accounts
Most personal accounts require:
- A valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID)
- Your Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number
- Your current residential address
- Contact information, including phone number and email address
Video Connect allows Main Street Bank to verify identification in real time as part of the account opening process.
For Business Accounts
Business accounts generally require:
- A valid government-issued photo ID for each signer or authorized individual
- Business Tax Identification Number (EIN)
- Business formation documents appropriate for your entity type
- Documentation identifying business owners, authorized signers, and individuals with significant control of the business
- Business address and contact information
- Additional business-related documentation as requested based on the account type
Because documentation requirements can vary by business structure, a Main Street Bank representative can explain any additional requirements during your Video Connect appointment.
Can I upload or share documents during my Video Connect session?
Yes. Video Connect allows customers to securely share documents, provide identification, review paperwork, and electronically sign applicable documents during the session.
Helpful tip: Having your identification and any required business documents readily available before your appointment can help speed up the account opening process and allow your banker to assist you more efficiently.
Can I apply for a loan through Video Connect?
Yes. Video Connect allows you to meet face-to-face with a Main Street Bank banker to discuss financing options, complete an application, provide documentation, review loan information, and electronically sign applicable documents. Video Connect can be used for many consumer and business lending needs, helping you move through much of the lending process without visiting a branch.
Please note: While you can discuss and apply for real estate-secured loans through Video Connect, this channel is currently not able to close loans secured by real estate, including:
- Residential mortgages
- Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs)
- Fixed-rate home equity loans
These loan types require a notary as part of the closing process and must be completed through the appropriate closing arrangements. Video Connect can still be used to answer questions, review options, and assist with much of the application process before closing.
Can I get a mortgage or home equity loan through Video Connect?
Yes. Video Connect can be used to discuss mortgage and home equity financing options, answer questions, and assist with the application process. However, because real estate loan closings require a notary, mortgages, HELOCs, and fixed home equity loans cannot currently be closed through Video Connect. A Main Street Bank representative can help guide you through the required next steps for closing your loan.
Can I electronically sign documents during a Video Connect session?
Yes. Video Connect supports secure document review and electronic signatures, helping customers complete banking transactions without visiting a branch.
How does Main Street Video Connect work?
Main Street Video Connect works very similarly to other video chat services like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It can be used from a phone or smart device or from a personal computer right from our website. The service uses the camera and microphone on your device to put you face to face with a bank representative, connecting you personally to someone who is happy to help.
Is Video Connect secure?
Yes. Video Connect allows Main Street Bank to verify customer identity in real time and securely exchange information and documents.
How does Main Street Bank verify my identity during a Video Connect session?
Video Connect can be used to verify personal identification during the session, helping protect customer accounts and information. All Video Connect interactions use identity verification controls during video sessions.
Will I need to provide identification?
Depending on the transaction being performed, a banker may request identification as part of the verification process. In most cases, to provide optimal service, a banker will ask you to provide current, official identification to help you with your banking needs.
