We now offer EMV chip cards for your Main Street Bank debit card. These new cards come with an embedded chip and provide enhanced security when used at chip-enabled card readers.

Chip technology is becoming the standard in the U.S. for card payments with its next level of protection and successful fraud reduction around the world. You’ll be issued a new chip card as your current debit card expires, or you can receive a new chip card instantly at any of our branches.

What’s New:

  • Added security with the chip card and easier use outside of the U.S.
  • Instead of swiping the card, you will insert it into the front of the card reader (see diagram below on how to use a chip card)

What stays the same:

  • Your debit card number and account number
  • The magnetic strip can still be swiped at merchants that haven’t transitioned yet

If you have any questions about how to get a new chip card, or how to use your chip card, give us a call at 508-481-8300 and ask for your branch to help you.
