Yesterday afternoon, President Biden signed legislation recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday. As an organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we applaud the commemoration of this day.
Given the short notice, Main Street Bank is keeping all offices open normal hours on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19, 2021. While many federal government agencies will be closed tomorrow, the Federal Reserve announced that its payment services, including fulfillment of orders for currency and coin, will remain open tomorrow, “conforming to standard practice for any federal holiday that falls on a Saturday,” and that it would incorporate Juneteenth into its future operational schedule. Main Street Bank will look to the Federal Reserve to determine how to adjust our schedule to reflect the new federal holiday in the years to come.
To honor and recognize Juneteenth for this year, Main Street Bank is following our normal float holiday policy for all employees.
