Why did (NMSB/MSB) change their Names?

We felt it was important to create a new name that truly reflects both banks’ personality, culture and values – as well as continuing to retain each banks’ connection to the customers, employees and the communities we serve while also honoring the long term history we both share. Additionally, the names Marlborough Savings Bank or North Middlesex Savings Bank would not make sense, since we’ll be covering an expanded market area.

How did you come up with the name Main Street Bank?

While working with an outside branding agency, we gathered research from many different stakeholders (employees, customers, non-customers) and one consistent theme surfaced – stay true to who you are, what you do while maintaining a strong belief of supporting one another i.e. The moral of our story!

What’s our moral and what’s the point of a moral?

Our lives are richer when we support one another. The moral of our story is our foundation. It’s how we behave and represents the core of our brand. Essentially, it is the guiding principle behind how we do business.

What does your new name mean?

Main Street has been the central hub or thoroughfare of a town. The name denotes community and small town togetherness. Main Street has always been there and always will be, so in that sense it represents history and longevity. It is simple, and represents who we are.

It also has a secondary meaning relating back to our moral – we want our customers to feel that we are accessible and they can depend on us for support and guidance.
